Melissa MacKay attended St. Mary?s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, with Honours in Psychology, in 2002. After spending a year in South Korea, she returned to attend Dalhousie Law School, graduating in 2008. She was called to the Bar in Prince Edward Island in 2009, Nova Scotia in 2010 and Alberta in 2011.
Melissa has practiced in the areas of Family Law, Real Property, Wills/Estates/Probate, Administrative and General Civil Litigation. Melissa joined AWOC in August, 2011 and will be practicing in the area of Family Law.

In her last 2 years of practice on the East coast, Melissa has been active in the business community, as a member of the Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce and subsequently serving on the interim leadership committee, which spearheaded the formation of a Business Association in Fall River, Nova Scotia. Last year, Melissa also served on the Board of Directors for Bluewater BDC, which focuses on developing small business and job creation.
Melissa participated in facilitating the Parent Information Program in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (Family Division), in association with other Family Law practitioners and Health Care Providers.
Melissa has been coaching a Special Olympics swim team for the past 3 years and is eager to get back in the water.
Melissa is looking forward to practicing in Sherwood Park and to becoming and active member of the Edmonton and Sherwood Park communities.
